My Pilgrimage

"I will come and get you"
(John 14:3 NLT)

Choosing Destiny.

The dictionary defines destiny as the seemingly inevitable or necessary succession of events or what will necessarily happen to any person or thing.

We all must choose what is important in our life.  Some may choose health, money, family, a good job, a home, friends or an education.  All of these are admirable treasures that we all try to achieve.  I believe there is even one choice of greater importance.  How are we going to achieve eternal life?  For our discussion let us agree that there is eternal life and that there will be a judgment day.  On this day all people will be judged as righteous or unrighteous.  "… you must give an account on judgment day of every idle word you speak.  The words you say now reflect your fate then; either you will be justified by them or you will be condemned." (Matthew 12:36-37 NLT)  Those who are found righteous will live with our Heavenly Father and His Son Jesus Christ in a place called Heaven.  Those who are found unrighteous will be condemned to live in a place called hell.  "If anyone's name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire." (Revelations 20:15 NIV)

How are we going to achieve eternal life in Heaven?  We have two choices. (1) We can pursue righteous living and keep all the Ten Commandments or (2) We can accept by faith Jesus Christ as our Savior who died on the cross for our sins.  If and only if we accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior we will be found righteous before God on judgment day.  "… this is what God has testified: He has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son.  So whoever has God's Son has life; whoever does not have His Son does not have life." (1 John 5:11-12 NLT)  Therefore, if we accept Jesus Christ, we must also accept Him as the Head of His church, the Body of Christ and we must become part of this body.  "... prepare God's people for works of service, so that the Body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ." (Ephesians 4:12-13 NIV)

There is no other way to achieve eternal life. You either go to judgment before God to plead your case and be found unrighteous or Jesus will testify that you belong to Him and have been washed righteous by His blood.  "Christ died for us.  ... we have now been justified by his blood," (Romans 5: NIV)

All of those treasures that we try to have, have no value and are meaningless towards achieving eternal life.  We place so much importance and energy on matters that are meaningless towards spiritual growth.  We should seek spiritual growth in the Body of Christ.  Instead we seek growth in riches and substances of the world. "Utterly meaningless! Everything is meaningless. What does man gain from all his labor at which he toils under the sun?" (Ecclesiastes 1:2-3 NIV)

Accept Jesus Christ;
Depend on the Lord and walk with Him.

Dear GOD,
Thank You for allowing me the freedom to choose my destiny.
Thank You for sending Your Son into this world.
I believe that Jesus Christ died for my sins.
His blood washed away my sins and made me right before You.
Thank You GOD for being chosen to serve You.
By Your grace my name has been placed into the book of life.
All glory and might belongs to You my God and Lord.
In Your name I pray.
Amen.

God bless you    Wulf
